Become a Britvex Client —
Start With Scope, Not a Sales Promise
A new professional relationship begins by understanding the business, the services needed, the records available and the statutory or commercial deadlines that matter.
A Clear Route for Become a Client
This page replaces the old “Become a Client” menu item. It gives prospective clients a more useful explanation of what needs to happen before Britvex can responsibly begin professional work.
An initial enquiry should describe the business or personal tax position, the service required, any immediate deadlines and whether another accountant or adviser is currently acting. Britvex can then identify whether the matter fits its service scope and what further information is needed.
Where Britvex is able to act, the next stage is an agreed engagement. The services, responsibilities, information requirements and commercial terms should be understood before recurring or material professional work begins.
Professional-services onboarding can require anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer checks. Depending on the client and service, this can include identity, beneficial ownership, business activity, source information and risk-based questions.
Tax-agent work also requires the appropriate client authorization. HMRC uses different authorization methods for different taxes and services, so onboarding should follow the route applicable to the actual work rather than relying on one generic form for every tax.
The Relationship in Practical Terms
Companies & Directors
Annual accounts, Corporation Tax, Companies House, payroll, VAT and advisory needs can be scoped together.
Individuals & Sole Traders
Self Assessment, landlord, sole-trader and other personal tax work requires the relevant taxpayer information and authority.
Overseas Clients
UK services can be delivered remotely, but identity, AML/KYC and documentary checks still apply.
Ongoing Accounting
Recurring work requires agreed records, software/workflow and responsibilities for timely information.
Tax Engagements
Britvex must have the appropriate authority before dealing with HMRC on the client’s behalf.
Advisory Projects
Forecasting, restructuring or other advisory work begins with the facts, documents and a defined output.
A Defined Four-Step Process
Send the initial enquiry
Explain the entity, service needed, deadline and current adviser position.
Confirm service fit and scope
Britvex identifies the likely engagement, information and specialist boundaries.
Complete engagement and due diligence
Agree the relationship and complete applicable AML/KYC or identity steps.
Set up authority and records
HMRC/Companies House authority, previous records and portal workflows are established as relevant.
What Needs to Stay Clear
Bring the most recent records
Prior accounts, returns, bookkeeping information and Companies House records can materially change the onboarding position.
Tell us about urgent deadlines
An engagement should not assume Britvex can take responsibility for a deadline before records, authority and scope are accepted.
Say if another accountant acts
Switching clients need a professional-handover process rather than ordinary onboarding only.
Do not send unnecessary secrets
Britvex should request information relevant to the engagement and compliance checks, not collect data without purpose.
No Blanket Consultation Promise
Some initial enquiries may be handled without a separate advisory engagement, while substantive review, advice or project work can require agreed professional scope and fees. The website should not promise that every consultation or analysis is free.

Become a Client — Common Questions
Do I have to pay for every initial enquiry?
A general enquiry can be used to identify the service and next step. Substantive professional advice or review may require an agreed engagement and fee.
Can Britvex act immediately if I have a deadline tomorrow?
Not automatically. Britvex first needs to assess scope, records, authority and whether the deadline can responsibly be accepted.
Why does Britvex need AML/KYC information?
Professional-services and company-service activities can be subject to anti-money-laundering obligations requiring risk-based client due diligence.
How do I authorize Britvex with HMRC?
The method depends on the tax service. Britvex should provide the appropriate authorization route during onboarding.
